Measure the table with chairs in use

Mark the footprint, then allow space for seating and the route around it. The position of the legs can affect usable seating as much as the overall length.

Check both sizes of an extending table

Where an extension is included, compare closed and open dimensions, operation and leaf storage. Confirm whether the listing is a table alone or a complete furniture set.

Compare tabletop space and leg clearance

The shape of a dining table changes how it uses the room. A round top has no corners, while a rectangular top can work well in a longer space. Neither shape guarantees more seats: the usable edge, base position and chair width all matter. For bar tables, check tabletop height against stool seat height.

Questions, answered.

Are chairs included with a dining table?

Only if the product’s package contents explicitly include them. Table styling in a photograph is not an inclusion list.

Is a round table always better for a small room?

No. Compare its real footprint and the room layout alongside rectangular and square options.

How do I work out how many people a table seats?

Use any supplied seating guidance, then compare the usable tabletop edge and leg positions with your chairs. Overall length alone does not account for wide chairs, armrests or obstructing supports.

What is the difference between a marble-look and stone tabletop?

A marble-look finish describes appearance and can be applied to different substrates. Check the listed tabletop material and care instructions rather than treating the finish name as the construction.
