Queen Mattresses
Choose a queen mattress using more than its size label. Compare construction, firmness descriptions and depth, then check the exact dimensions and support requirements against your existing or planned queen bed base.

Confirm the queen-size fit
Check the mattress’s stated dimensions and the frame’s compatible size. If changing the frame too, compare its complete footprint with the room and delivery access. Mattress depth affects the finished bed height and fitted sheets. A queen label does not tell you all of these measurements.
A typical Australian queen mattress is around 152.5–153 cm wide and 203–204 cm long. It is usually narrower than a king by roughly 30 cm, while the lengths are similar. That comparison helps with room planning, but it does not replace the exact product dimensions or support requirements. Measure the frame’s inside space, then consider mattress depth and fitted-sheet capacity when completing the sleeping setup.
Make a useful comparison of features
Read the layer construction, spring or foam details and firmness description alongside the manufacturer’s care guidance. Different designs and labels should not be reduced to a simple good-versus-bad ranking. Personal comfort varies. Choose using the actual information supplied and your needs rather than assuming a feature provides an unverified health benefit.
Keep support and care compatible
A new mattress needs the base support specified for that model. Review slat spacing, platform requirements and any centre-support guidance. Follow unpacking instructions for compressed mattresses and the stated rotation or care routine. Check whether the purchase includes only the mattress or an explicitly described bundle before comparing the complete setup cost.
Questions, answered.
Will my existing queen base support a new mattress?
Check both products’ support requirements and the condition of the base. Matching size alone does not establish suitable slat spacing or support.
Does a thicker queen mattress always feel softer?
Depth and firmness describe different things. Review construction and the maker’s firmness information rather than using thickness as a comfort rating.
Can I rotate every queen mattress the same way?
Follow the instructions for the model. Some designs have a particular sleeping surface or care routine and should not be flipped or rotated indiscriminately.
