Match the table to its use
Dining tables and lower occasional tables serve different seating arrangements. Check the height against the chairs or lounge you own. Compare the actual top dimensions and leg positions, leaving room for seating and movement. A compact round top and a rectangular table can use the same area very differently.
The usable seating arrangement depends on the base as well as the top. A round table can leave flexible chair positions, while a rectangular top may align with a long patio or wall. Draw the chair locations you intend to use and leave a route past occupied seats. Then compare table height with the existing chairs. Outdoor materials and exposure guidance should be read for the actual table rather than inferred from its shape.
Consider surface and exposure
Review the supplied tabletop and frame materials, assembly and load details. Outdoor furniture still needs the care recommended for its finish. Choose where it will stand based on the actual instructions and conditions, and use appropriate protection where required. A material’s appearance does not establish weather resistance or maintenance requirements.
Plan storage and accessories carefully
If a table folds, extends or has an umbrella opening, check the stated feature and its measurements. An opening does not mean an umbrella or base is included. Measure stored dimensions when seasonal storage matters. Review the supplied quantity and package contents so you are comparing a complete table with the features you need.
Questions, answered.
Can an outdoor side table be used for dining?
Check its height, surface area and intended use. A low occasional table may not work with upright dining chairs even when the tabletop is wide enough.
Does an umbrella hole mean a base is supplied?
No. Check the included items and the compatible opening dimensions. Follow the umbrella and base instructions for the intended location.
How do I choose a table for a narrow balcony?
Measure the full setup with chairs in use and doors open. Compare compact or folding designs only where their actual dimensions leave a usable access route.
